Okay, after the first episode it's probably inevitable that there would be a slight let-down for the second. The show continues to look great and Colin Morgan continues to be insanely talented (these are not spoilers, I think). They could stand to lay off the slow-mo, though. Powers That Be! You are aware you aren't making a John Woo film, yes?

We were promised darker and more intense than ever before, and I think we did get that. More than that, the production values are better than ever, but not in a way that overwhelmed the best charms of the show. This episode made good use of (most of) the cast, managed to squeeze a lot of story into not a lot of script pages, and even made thoughtful use of sound, lighting, and color. I fully expect that Part 2 will have more of the characters who didn't get much screen time, which is about the only complaint I have so far.

Stole the screencaps from puchre, here. If you want to discuss this episode, dive right in! =D

Merlin Prompt Fest @ merlin_muses

Posting starts Sunday 2nd October

I think it's okay to say now that I have a potato in this pot. I've been SO ITCHY to post. It's actually one of my flaws as an author, there comes a point when I can't resist sharing any more. Usually that point is before the fic is really done. Having a beta reader has really helped with that, among other things.

Also it's lovely that there's so much ficcing and discussion going on right now! I love being a part of that when it all goes down. I totally missed out on Buffy/Angel and had an entirely different experience watching it all on DVD (at about this time last year, actually).

ANYWAY MERLIN MUSES POSTING STARTS TOMORROW YAY!

...has got to be a Gaius fan. Thought about signing up merlin_holidays and am now very glad I didn't. But I did look over the entries to see what it was all about. I guess it's nice and symmetrical that my squicks are everyone else's requests and vice versa, but it's also kind of depressing to be a niche even within fandom.

ETA: NOW I HAVE FRIENDS YAY :)))
